Mother’s Day is May 10!

Mothers, including anyone who plays that role in your life, have added a lot more jobs to their workload these days. While the usual options for celebrating them may not be available this year, you can still show your appreciation and support.

Here are a few ideas we’ve gathered:

  • Deck out her front door

  • Build your own bagel spread

  • Take a virtual cooking or flower arranging class

  • Have a picnic in the backyard

  • Order a Mother’s Day Brunch to-go from a local restaurant.

Many of us here at Vivacity are also mothers, so we always appreciate someone preparing a meal for us. Here’s a recipe you can try that's simple, adaptable, fresh and healthy:


Spring Cobb Salad Board

Magnolia Journal  I  Spring 2020Time: 30 minutesIngredients: 12 oz. thin asparagus spears, trimmed3 heads baby romaine, halved or quartered, or 1 romaine heart, cut up12 oz. chilled grilled chicken breast, sliced6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and halved or quartered2 medium avocados, halved, seeded, peeled, and sliced8 oz. farm-style cheddar cheese, broken into irregular chunks18 small radishes, halved or quartered1 small red onion, thinly sliced6-12 slices bacon, crisp-cooked and crumbled (or leave whole)Favorite creamy buttermilk ranch dressingAdapt this recipe by adding other favorite ingredients such as; croutons, tomatoes, etc. Directions:Bring a large pot of water to boiling. Plunge asparagus into water; cook 2 minutes. Transfer asparagus to a bowl of ice water until cool. Drain.On a large board or platter, arrange asparagus, romaine, chicken, eggs, avocados, cheese, radishes, onion, bacon, and other favorite ingredients.
